We interrupt this broadcast to bring you...

A recipe! Imagine that.

I saw a recipe the other day at
Domestic Diva's site for Chocolate Chip Angel Cookies. It caught my eye because it's not your run-of-the-mill recipe, and neither is the finished product! I am admittedly a Toll House girl so this was a stretch for me. I made a batch this morning (yes, I was puttering in the kitchen rather than type recipes) and they are FABULOUS. Soft in the center and delicately melt-in-your-mouth crisp on the edges. Oh, my. My oldest daughter is home until exams start today and we are trying to keep our hands off of them.

We all know
I hate baking cookies so, if I say these are good, they are GOOD. Hop on over and give it a look, and say "Hi" while you're there!**********

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

  3. I'm glad you liked them Anne! Now that my blog is getting a few more hits, I have this new fear that people will try one of the recipes I post and hate it! So I'm very happy and relieved that you liked the cookies!

I've actually never tried making Toll House cookies, but I might have to give them a shot one of these days.

  6. Hi Anne, just a quick note to say thanks for your visit I don.t anticipate becoming a regular reader here BUT if occasionally you find the edges of some of your recipes a bit damp, it's probably been me drooling over them... Sooory.

  9. This sounds like just the thing to go with cocoa after our ice-skating outing today. My 12-year-old daughter loves to bake cookies...thanks, Anne!

  10. Hey Anne,

I'm forwarding this recipe to my wife...her and our daughter Gracey are usually good for whipping up a batch-o-chocolate chip cookies at least once every couple weeks.

Since you're a mom of 6! Wow! I would imagine you have a couple recipes that you always make for dinner...your staples...could you share those?? My wife is admittedly not that great in the kitchen allthough not for a lack of effort (bless her) and she's always complaining (maybe not the right term there) about our dinners being boring. Any suggestions?

BTW - I LOVE to cook and I do most of the cooking in our house...I'm trying to get my wife to find the pleasure in it.

    Thx,
    Rich

  13. Well guys, I'm glad everyone liked the cookie recipe but--make sure you tell DIVA that! It is hers anyway ;o)

Rich, I am working on a post to address all those requests-it seems you are not alone on the weeknight dinner issue. I'm typing my heart out and wracking my brains-I should have some answers within the next few days.

  15. Sorry to comment twice--I feel like I'm double dipping or something. But while we're on the subject of cookies I have a question. I have some great recipes from where I grew up--in Oregon--that just don't produce the same cookie now I live at 4,500 feet. I know how to adjust cake recipes for high altitude, but haven't had the same success with cookies. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  16. Double dipping isn't always bad ;o)

Here's what OChef says`the answers there are usually pretty "on".

"There are some standard adjustments you can make. At 7,000 ft., for each cup of liquid called for in the recipe, increase it by 3 to 4 tablespoons. For each teaspoon of baking powder called for, decrease the amount by 1/4 teaspoon. For each cup of sugar in the recipe, decrease the amount by 1 to 3 tablespoons.

For cakes leavened by egg whites, beat only to a soft peak consistency to keep them from expanding too much as they bake. For both cakes and cookies, lower the oven temperature by 20 degrees or so and slightly shorten the cooking time. You will want to keep the changes on the small side the first time you prepare a recipe, and adjust as needed subsequently."

  17. I love making cookies and this recipe is right on time -the girl and a friend came home this week-end and wiped out the freezer selection. Brats... I will make these the next time I get the cookie craving. :)They look absolutely delicious.
